Appraisal Services
What is an appraisal?
An appraisal is an opinion of value determined by an un-biased educated expert.
What can I do with an appraisal?
An appraisal has many uses and in fact, can be one of the greatest tools a business can have. This tool can be used in restructuring loans, asset-based leasing, negotiating insurance rates, mergers and acquisitions, inventory of assets to determine the value of a fleet for continued maintenance or liquidation of stale assets, an accurate determination of what is owned and its value derived by a non-biased opinion party. The list of uses is only limited by the user.
Why should I use James W. Skelton & Associates, Inc.?
We offer over 45 years of valuation experience in the heavy equipment, machinery, production, and transportation industries.
We are certified to provide the most-up-to date appraisals conforming to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) guidelines as set forth by The Appraisal Foundation.
Our Appraisers are members of the Equipment Appraisers of North America (EANA), an association comprised of professional appraisers specializing in the construction and mining, production, and transportation industries, and in compliance with its membership requirements.
What will this process involve?
After an initial interview with the client to determine what is to be appraised, the purpose and user of the appraisal report, where the assets are located, and an estimate of the cost of appraisal services, we will begin with the field inspections of assets. This process is a comprehensive physical inspection of the assets to determine make, model, serial number, year of manufacture, upgrades and additional features of each item, overall condition of item, owner’s identification number of item, and take photographs of each item. Our inspectors will also request any repair information available and any invoices needed.
Once this is completed, our firm will begin its market research, compiling comparable information for the valuation process, verification of manufacturing data, researching auction results, and consultation to ensure the most accurate valuation. The valuation report is compiled, photography processed, and all information rigorously checked for accuracy.
Our completed product is made available to our client in both hard copy and digital form for ease of use.
How will I know which appraisal is right for me?
In our initial client interview, we will help our client by determining the best value definition will suit his needs.
